However, the bride’s sister-in-law, Wang Qiangying—consumed by jealousy over the wedding’s extravagance and the bride’s attire, and convinced that her mother-in-law was playing favorites—repeatedly created scenes and made unreasonable demands. The kind-hearted Shuilian stepped forward of her own accord, offering money to help her mother-in-law resolve the situation. Subsequently, Wang Qiangying’s behavior only escalated; she not only attempted to sabotage the romance of her younger sister-in-law, Renfang, but also squabbled over assets during the division of the household and mistreated the elderly—actions that eventually became intolerable even to her usually submissive husband, Renwen. In stark contrast, Shuilian consistently demonstrated a nature that was both considerate and devoted to her family.
